Abstract

Education in Indonesia continues to strive to improve the quality of learning through the development of a structured curriculum. One relevant approach is Understanding by Design (UbD), which focuses on planning learning with clear goals, appropriate assessment, and a structured teaching method. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of UbD in mathematics education to enhance student understanding. The method used is a literature review with qualitative analysis of five relevant articles. The results show that the implementation of UbD can increase student engagement and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts, due to the learning design that begins with clear objectives and appropriate assessments. In conclusion, UbD has been proven effective in improving the quality of learning and student outcomes, especially in mathematics education, by helping teachers design lessons that are more focused on student understanding.
